Apple iPad Air Screen Protector: Is it Necessary?

With supervision, it should be fine.

I agree, but I can't be with him at all times and he can get agressive. Anyways, I went a head and purchased the iSmooth Ultra Clear Screen Protector for the iPad Air, cost $12.97 for 2 of them. At least it will give me some peace of mind when he has it. Hopefully I chose the right one there where so many on Amazon. By the way I'm horrible at putting these on, wonder if Apple would do it lol.

I once stood in line in a best buy and saw that if you bought a protector from them they would install it. Don't know if they are doing that now.

They will and they guarantee the installation but they charge you to do it.

I wouldn't trust them with my new iPad Air

I got an email from Zagg selling a screen protector for $34.99! Anybody ever used them? Apparently they use some "liquid" to get the protector onto the screen...makes me wonder and the price looks too high too.

Sent from my iPad using iPF

I installed a IQ Shield with the liquid from Amazon for quite a bit less. I totally stink at applying screen protectors and have to say this was the most successful easiest install I've ever done or possibly seen. I simply cannot tell I have one on.

Definitely necessary, I have two scratches on my screen already and that is
with using a Smart Cover. Kind of p!ssed off really as I thought I was being careful with it. This screen is easier to mark than my previous iPads for sure.

What some of you mean is that a screen protector is necessary for YOU. It is not necessary for ME. I have no scratches on any of my screens and I have a LOT.

Wow take it easy...

My middle name is easy! I just wanted to point out that everyone's experience re screen protector is very different. Some swear they need them, so swear they are useless. The screen will scratch, that is for sure, but you need to get something really hard against it to do so. Sand will do it and probably some types of dirt. None of that stuff gets to my screens...and I don't have kids, which tend to bring bits of dust/dirt around with them, being kids and all. So, it is going to be dependent on who you are. I advise a case with cover which is kept closed when the iPad is not in use. It worked well across quite a few tablets now. In my world, scratching a screen is just not something I worry about. I worry about dinging and marking up the body...as almost anything thing can do that.

I have yet to scratch any iPad I have ever owned. More or less thanks to Otterbox. With the Otterbox defender I removed the built in screen protector. When Lifeproof came out with their Nuud case I transitioned to them. GREAT case BTW. I suppose I can see the need for a screen protector in a busy environment, maybe exposed to the elements, etc but for me, an EMS provider, I see no need (mainly because I am not using it on the job). I have a friend who uses his iPad for his construction business and his is marked the hell up.
