According to a solid batch of rumors, Apple is most likely setting up things to start the production of the next generation iPad. Yet we will not see it out on the market sooner than this autumn, as the assembly process is believed to kick start in July.
Analysts have been making predictions about the hardware and software components of the tablet, but also about its design. One of the most prominent Apple analysts, Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities, supports the popular theory according to which the fifth generation iPad will sport a thinner and narrower frame. As a result, the next Apple tablet might also turn out to be lighter. Actually, the latest report coming from DigiTimes claims that the iPad 5 will end up being up to 25-33% lighter than previous models. This coincides precisely with the predictions of the analyst mentioned above, who previously stated:
“The display of the new iPad, which will hit market shelves as early as September, will still be a 2,048 x 1,536 Retina display, the same as the one used in the 4th-generation model, except that the new display is built on a glass substrate of 0.2mm, thinner than the 0.25mm one for the 4th-generation device, the sources said, adding the new table will has a narrow bezel.â€
If we listen to the rumors, we can obviously see that the design of the new iPad is quite similar to the iPad mini. This has been seen as well, in leaked photographs that supposedly showcase a fifth generation iPad sporting a narrow bezel and a cover glass.
