If the idea that the iPad 3 might be just around the corner, is too much for you and you are already starting to sweat, we can offer you something lighter and potentially much smaller. Here comes a report from The Wall Street Journal who claims that Apple is busier than ever. Not only is the company testing the next generation iPad within its closed quarters but it is also working on a new, smaller, 8 inch iPad.
The publication bases its claims on some unnamed officials from Apple’s Asian suppliers, where the upcoming models of the iPad and iPhone are being assembled as we speak. They claim that:
“Apple has shown them screen designs for a new device with a screen size of around 8-inches, and said it is qualifying suppliers for it.â€
This news resonates with an earlier DigiTimes report in which it was stated that Apple is planning to launch a smaller 7.85 inch tablet with a iPad 2 similar screen somewhere in the fourth quarter of 2012. Might this be Apple’s way of counterbalancing the scales with Amazon’s Kindle or Barnes and Nobles’ Nook Tablet? They have been causing Apple quite a headache especially in the last quarter, with their motivating sales.
The price tag was what sealed the deal for most people. Coming at $199 and $249 respectively – the two Android tablets are a lot cheaper than any iPad tablet who comes at $499. Details about how much a smaller, thinner 8 inch screen iPad are not known yet, but it’s highly unlikely the price will go down that much.
