AppleInsider reports today that Apple has taken further steps to ensure that customers in Australia realize that the new 4G iPad is not compatible with LTE networks in their country. Now, in the Australian online Apple store, directly above the area where you can click to purchase the new iPad models, Apple has inserted a very clear disclaimer in the Wi-Fi + 4G section, to the effect that “This product supports very fast cellular networks. It is not compatible with current Australian 4G LTE networks and WiMAX networks.â€
In the fine print underneath the notice, it also now says, “This model can roam worldwide on fast cellular data networks, including HSPA, HSPA+, and DC-HSDPA. It will be interesting to note if Apple adds such disclaimers to the online Apple Store in other countries where consumer protection bodies are currently looking into the issue. The UK online Apple store, for example, currently has no such disclaimer to inform customers that the new iPad is not compatible with 4G LTE networks in that country.
