Architecture - buildings that is

That's a great story, Kevin.

Well, Richard, I you get the chance, I recommend a visit. Saint Dénis itself is a pretty hideous place. (Think Milton Keynes with no street cleaning) but just follow the signposts for the Basilique and you are in for a treat. There is a digital guide system in English that will set you back a few Euros, so you know what you are looking at. There has been a church on the site for 2000 years, and the original buildings, or at least part of them, have been opened up by excavation.

Driving to St Dénis is easy. From Calais, head for Paris on the A1, and turn off just before you hit the Péripherique. The Stade de France is on your left side just about opposite the exit, so you'll know where you are. If you get to Charles de Gaulle airport, you've gone too far.

I went out for a walk, with frequent stops, in my neighbourhood. I need the exercise! I took these along the way. Nothing outstanding and nothing dramatic, but you get an idea of the varied styles of domestic building in my neighbourhood...

The path on the right is new. Built as a Jubilee project.

The workmanship was not that good :(

A non native bird, a parakeet, is perched way up in the tree. He has a few companions sealing and roosting close by.

Thanks for showing us the houses. It's refreshing to see a neighbourhood that's not full of modern cookie cutter styled houses. It looks like the conservation area entrance wasn't wide enough for the driver who took out the post and fence.

Yup re the driver, Scifan :). It wasn't even icy!

OK, let's continue I pass 2 schools. Then, near them. Check the house name. Are you branching out Scifan?

That'll be the Bromley branch of the academy.:D

Here's the 106 year old Northern Bank building in downtown Regina. It's the oldest commercial building in downtown Regina.

Thanks, Leelai. We have grown to really enjoy the area for its diversity, and closeness to the countryside as well as London.

Richard...very nice pics of the different style homes there. I also enjoyed your walk through of the nature park. That is just so inviting!

Thank you Richard and Scifan and everyone who posts here. It is so nice to roam in places I may never go. And to make mental comparisons to places I have been.
