Architecture - buildings that is

The Saskatchewan Legislature building, seen from across frozen Wascana Lake.

<img src="http://www.ipadforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=37477"/> The nice blue sky didn't last. A couple of hours later, there was full overcast.

That's a very nice photo, Scifan. I'm guessing the lake is enjoyed by skaters.

When will the celebrations start? Some views of the finished work will be great. It's amazing how quickly the final work stages are completed.

The official centennial will be celebrated on the 100th anniversary of the dedication, on November 23, 2013.

Richard Brown and Scifan, those are really great photos guys.

Richard, great street shots. Loved that pub on the corner, one of the great institutions, the British pub! I wish they could get their act together in the Australian cities and get some brass and wood and atmosphere into them. Most of them look like they need to be hosed out with high water pressure.

Sci your photos are just great, with a documentary flavour. And good photography. You have made it interesting and remind me of my bucket list which is to visit Canada one day soon.

We now move on to Charterhouse Square.

The famous Charterhouse school used to be in this area.

The Crossrail works which affect Farringdon station are going on behind these hoardings. On this site, the graves of Black Death victims have been discovered. The way in which the skeletons are spaced out indicates that the people died during the early stages of the plague (Black Death).

For followers of Hercule Poirot, this Art Deco block of flats should prove familiar. The TV Co used the place as the set for his home.

OK, that's all I managed this time around. I hope you enjoyed sharing my visit. :)

Thanks for the photo tour, Richard. We don't need travel books as long as you're here with your excellent photos.

Absolutely great pictures and commentary Richard. I do enjoy the Poirot series and that's the building alright.

Thanks OB. Clerkenwell holds a lot of history, but is a little off the tourist routes.

Omg! I love Poirot. Yup, those are his flats. David Suchet is the best! Lets hope he does the full set. I think it's 64 or 65 episodes/stories in total.

Architectural elements from the earlier incarnation of the Regina Public Library, with the bronze dedication plaque from that library building.
