Schneeberg
Schneeberg (Alps) - Wikipedia

Once up there, prepare for a significant lower temperature than in the valley - about 10° C less(21° C in my case).
Enjoy the sight, visit Elisabeth church - built in memory of Empress Elisabeth of Austria (it was closed when I was there) -, or the caleidoscope with exhibition, or walk to the top of the mountain.

Bernstein Castle

Bernstein is a nice municipitality in Burgenland, just 90 minutes from home (if I take a shortcut through Hungary). The castle belongs to the Almásy family for more than 120 years. It’s also a hotel with 10 rooms which can be rented in summer. Nobody else but hotel guests are allowed to enter the grounds, except when you take a guided tour. These take place at 11 AM and 3 PM in August and September, and last for about 50 minutes.

Bernstein, planet walk

Bernstein is the German word for amber

In August 1999, the walk has been opened. We had a full solar eclipse here back then. The route is about 5.7 km, and you need about 90 minutes to get from the main square, where the Sun is located, to Mercury, Venus, Earth and Moon, ... Pluto, and back to the Sun. Usually, taking the walk is not a challenge, except if you chose the hours right after noon on a hot day (like I did). There are parts with shadow, but for most of the walk you’re exposed to the sun. Even if you take photos, you might manage to walk the distance within 75 minutes or less.

The walk is not only informative, with facts about every planet (and the sun), and the route displayed, - only in German, though - you also see some of Bernstein’s beautiful surrounding area. It’s really quiet and calm. You don’t need a map to find the walk. It’s marked quite well.

Salzburg Festival takes place every year in summer (July 20 - August 30 this year)
The annual performance of Jedermann is one of it’s highlights, and it’s performed at Cathedral Square, the area in front of Salzburg Cathedral.

From that diagram it looks like the previous cathedrals on the site were on a different alignment.
 
Hellbrunn Palace and gardens - just a part of what you can see without guided tour or audioguide. If you want to experience the Trick Fountains, you’ll have to take a guided tour (about 40 minutes).
