Hello,

Have a new iPad3.
The most basic model; wifi only and 16 GB

a. Am I correct that there is No GPS capability in it ?

b Have had only a few days now, and of course the screen is all full of my fingerprints.
Want to buy one of those micro-fiber cleaning cloths.
A lot of them come with a bottle of some cleaning liquid also.
Is this a good thing to stay away from ?

What do you think of a little water (just "moist") to help with the cleaning ?
Very concerned that I don't damage the oleophatic coating on it in any way.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

What do you folks use for your cleaning ? Brand, etc. ?

c. The dock cable that they include is really short.
Any reason that I could not use a regular USB 3 Extension Cable, that the USB end of their cable would slip into ?
Would want it to be useful, of course, for both charging, and also connecting with my PC.

d. How popular are these stylus pens, so that you don't have to use your fingers so much ?
Any caveats to their usage, or brands to stay away from, etc. ?

Much thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob--to answer some of your questions:

a. You are correct-no GPS on the Wifi only devices.
b. I use only a micro-fiber cloth. No liquid. See this thread for other recommendations: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-2-forum/24928-how-do-you-clean-your-ipad.html
c. I only use the standard cord that came with my ipad for charging purposes. See this thread: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-accessories/33919-what-do-you-guys-use-charge-your-ipad.html
d. I have a stylus, but use it only on occasion. Other members really like to use their stylus. There are numerous threads that speak about stylus brands.

Hope that helped. I am sure others will bring in their recommendations as well.

To answer one of your questions.....I love using a stylus. I actually bought a new stylus this morning since mine went missing thanks to the cat. It's really a personal preference.

How does my Wi-Fi iPad3 know my location then? I can find it with my iPhone and it displays its location in Maps.

My ipad2 wifi device also has the find my location for my iPad setting which is necessary for cerain apps to function. A wifi iPad ca only determine its own location. My understanding is that you need the 3G iPad in order to have GPS capability since it carries the GPS chip within.

Your iPhone should have gps capability with its 3G feature.

Now there are always options of obtaining apps that may have workarounds...

A. I'll let someone else answer this.
B. I just use a microfiber cloth to wipe my screen down.
C. I use the cord it came with and only plug in at night. So far this has worked out fine for my useage.
D. I didn't think I'd like a stylus but my daughter got me one for my birthday. Turns out I love it. Its a must-have if you play Draw Something!
