Camera connection kit and vtech kidizoom plus?

Hi, we gave both our kids vtech kidizoom plus cameras with sd cards for Christmas. Neither seem to work with the iPad camera connection kit. I have tried connecting directly via USB and through the sd card. Images are stored as jpegs and I can upload to my pc. The camera connection kit works with my olympus USB, so is not faulty.

Any ideas? Would be great to be able to upload their pics directly.
