Hi everyone,
Yesterday night while returning from the library, I accidentally dropped my ipad2 straight onto the concrete from about 4 feet. And of course, upon inspection, the screen had cracked nearly the entire length of the ipad. Also, the corner was really damaged.
So, this morning I took it to the apple store and explained exactly what happened, and the guy says "no problem, we'll replace it for free this one time". I was extremely surprised this happened, that's pretty amazing CS. So, in a few days I have to go back to the apple store to pick up the ipad.
Does anyone know if apple supplies a brand new replacement ipad2 or is at a refurbished model?
Thanks,
Ryan

If I were you, I would only say THANK YOU, APPLE! I would not bother thinking whether it is refurbished or brand new. It is replaced only by courtesy and not by warranty (as this incident is normally not covered by warranty). Factory refurbished item is normally as good as brand new in terms of function, if not better.

TFlint said:It's not so much the model of the iPad as it is the operating system. The IOS upgrades should add features to all models. Of course, it can't add model improvements, such as cameras, but I expect all iPad models will be fully supported for some years to come.

I have an appointment on Monday at noon and I am hoping for a similar outcome as the ones that I have read in this thread.
I would really expect something that costs $600 to last more than 16 months!

Made appointment at local apple store who offered a replacement immediately, no fuss, amazing service and really is the reason I will be going back time after time for new product launches.

Had to battle with a manager & employee for 10 minutes to get a replacement down from $300 to $150...fun.
Like I said after 15 months of use 75% of the screen went black.
