What's new

Does the email program suck or is it just me?

Yes, the Mail app is limited in that way and I join you in your frustration. I have nothing to help with that.

However, on the Safari issue, for reflowing - you can create a bookmarklet so you can increase or decrease the font in the web page (if the Reader button in the URL bar doesn't appear or doesn't work for you). Have a look at this thread that explains bookmarklets and shows how to create them: Guide: Creating Safari Bookmarklets

It works well for me - maybe it'll help you?

Marilyn

the thing is soo frustrating to use... which is why i rarely use it.
but I never thought about your advice before, I'll consider trying the method out

thanks :)

Today I tried my new iPad (3rd Gen) as a camera, and imediately sent the photo in email using the photo app that comes with the iPad OS. What a mistake!
I hate it when people send 3.7 mg pictures intending to just send a quick snapshot, and that is the default with the iPad?
Wondered why the wi-fi was choking for 4 minutes. Grrrrrrrrrrrr...

When you send the picture look to the right of the CC/Bcc, From line in the email's header. Picture(s) over a certain size (500KB I think) it will be shown there.

Tap on it to get several choices that will reduce the size.

Once you choose an option, it becomes your default, so keep that in mind the next time you send a photo.

Thanks I never noticed that before

No problem: here is a little more info I've compiled for my own quick reference. I think all the sizes are correct, but it's been a while since I've used the iPad 2.

From iPad (3rd gen) Camera

  • Small = 320 x 240
  • Medium = 640 x 478
  • Large = 1296 x 968
  • Actual = 2592 x 1936

From Skitch Screen Shot on iPad 2

  • Small = 320 x 240
  • Medium = 640 x 480
  • Large = 1280 x 960
  • Actual = 1366 x 1024

From Skitch Screen Shot on iPad (3rd gen)

  • Small = 320 x 240
  • Medium = 640 x 480
  • Large = 1366 x 1024
  • Actual = 2732 x 2048

How does one attach a file to an existing email conversation. I have not found a way to do it on my ipad. Is there an app for that?

iOS 6 now allows attaching an email from within the Mail app. Tap and hold for the pop-up menu, just like you do for paste, then choose the arrow to the right for more options.

You can also tap and hold on a picture in the Photos app, then choose copy. Choose paste in the Mail app to copy the picture into the body of the email. This works in iOS 5.

For other files, or pre-iOS 6, the method that I think works best it to upload the file to DropBox, then use the DropBox app to get and and paste the share link into your email. This results in faster email delivery, and lets the other person download the file at their connivence, when they have a good internet connection.

No problem, but I was wrong about all the menu looks like. I had read different description and just repeated it without looking for myself. Here's the real deal.

Can anyone help me? My email won't load/refresh anymore on my email app icon thing...
It hasn't shown me any new mail for the past two days, no matter how much I "refresh" it. I went to my yahoo mail online just to make sure it wasnt an issue with the account itself, and everything was normal there. So this definitely is an issue with my iPad.
I've turned on/off my iPad, I've made sure in my settings that all the Push stuff is turned on...I dont know what else to do!
