Just click on them and hit upgrade.

Just FYI - it's usually better value to sell a smaller farm/habitat first and then buy the bigger one (as long as you aren't at maximum habitats with no room to move dragons to other habitats in the meantime).
You usually pay the same price to upgrade that it costs to buy a new one and at least you get back half what you paid for the smaller one if you sell it first!

I tried many combis usingcold hybrid plus fire still didn't get the blu fire...anyone can give some advice pleasee....i can't breed cold. +fire.. So i tried ice and fire,s it ends up with another cold..

Try switching the order with fire first. Maybe fire on left and ice on right. Hope this helps :thumbs:

Am pretty jealous about all this rares in here. Congrats to all of u and its nice to know/read that its not easy for anyone.
Has someone figured out what u can do, to earn more gems in the colosseum? Sometimes i get 2 and sometimes 5 even with the same dragons in the same events. It would be nice to plan with 5 gems a day especially when u have unreliable friends.

I think the colosseum is pretty random from what I've read/seen myself. Admittedly, most of my recent gold trophys have been from high level (10) 'pure' element dragons but I am pretty sure I've previously also had better results (silver vs bronze for instance) with a low level and even unrelated hybrid (like a baby sonic -air/lightning- in a Earth event or something silly) than one that should have a higher result (Level 8 Earth dragon). So yeah, not sure it's really possible to predict/play smarter in the colosseum but I'd still suggest choosing high level and 'event related' dragons as, from my experience, you'll still get gold or silver, rather than bronze.
Hope this make sense, heh.

(Of course I'd love to get 5 gems per day from the colosseum too so if anyone has worked out 'a system' then PLEASE let us know!)

Hello I'm a new fan of dragon vale and I have two questions. 1. What is the maximum number of habitats you can put in an island? And 2. When trying to breed a specific dragon, do the elements of the parents have to be in the same order as they are on the two element banners underneath the wanted dragon?

For ur second question, when i first started breeding some time ago this was the case. It guarenteed the dragon u were after. However since the first few weeka the game came out its very much up to chance.

As for the max habitats, it depends on what level u r up to. The higher the level, the more habitats. As of level 20 and above, the max habitats is 18.

Just saw that I have a 36hr egg in the making... any idea what it may be? I'm using an Earth and Storm dragon.

There's no 36hr dragon so I assume that you missed a few hrs which I'm guessing means you had 48hrs which I think you have a rare

In the process of rearranging my islands... *sigh* so much work, but too many dragons in the negatives! Any suggestions on which habitats are good together?

I'm not sure it's the best mix but I have mine split/grouped as below:

Island 1 =
Water
Air

Island 2 =
Sun
Moon
Cold
Lightning

Island 3 =
Plant
Fire
Earth
Rainbow

Of course it also depends on what dragons you have in each habitat but I'm pretty sure that until recently (when I started keeping lots of random dragons; that I'd bred in pursuit of rares; for the shrines) I only had one dragon with a -/+ and that was my Ice (water x cold) dragon (- from the lightning boost). Now, I even could have overcome that by putting him in the water habitat instead but I couldnt bring myself to do it because it just seems like he should melt, or at least be very uncomfortable! hahaha

Many other people split them with one habitat type spread over different islands, like: I could have one of my cold habitats over with the water and air to overcome my Ice dragon issue but so far I like the ease and look of keeping them grouped.

I've got the same issue...now wondering where they've gone on holiday and thinking I hope they're darn well enjoying it because I'm going to give mine a severe telling off when it finally gets 'home' (oh, who am I kidding? I will welcome it home with loving, and very excited arms, hehehe)

Right, exactly! Lol the only major thing I sold was my volcano but don't think I really need it anyways. Sold a lot of little stuff so I could move things around. It really was a pain on that first one. I realized I can't even sell the 2nd plant habitat yet until I get that shrine because there are 4 dragons I'm not going to sell...so I don't know when I will get to that island yet. Didn't do much on them yesterday. Maybe today if I get some extra time.

Thanks! Funny thing is they have all come from my original breeder. Only thing I got from the epic was the two reindeer. Blah!

I havent even bought the volcano, I dont really like it and it takes up so much room. Before the new treat options I was debating buying and selling it just for the XP but now I'll stick with harvesting food so at least I am not 'wasting' 2.5 mill! hehe

I have still had no better luck with either of my caves unfortunately. My habitats are fast filling up with random dragons but no rares to be seen
I REALLY hope something happens soon but I am not counting on it, heh

Welcome!

The maximum per island only depends on how many you can physically fit but, as per VDL04's reply, the maximum number you can have, total, depends on your level. You can go into the habitats section (Market -> Habitats) and you should see how many you can currently have...beneath the habitats will show you have for example 10/12 (so you can get 2 more) or 16/16 (you cant buy anymore and all the habitats will be greyed out).

I think you might find that for most of the dragons that will work but you also have to take their level into account too (a level 7 on the left might get 'over-ridden' by a level 9 on the right for instance). The rares (Sun/Moon/Rainbow), limited editions (Reindeer and previously, Bone) and any that need hybrids to breed (e.g., Bluefire, Sandstorm) will usually involve a bit more trial, error and luck.
