Email app isn't working

Hello!

I could really use some help. My email app on ipad 2 suddenly stopped working, I can acces it, and see how many mails it is trying to download, but it won't download them, and eventually gives up.

Time to quit the app completely. Go to the Home screen. Double press the Home button to open the multi-task bar then press any icon until they all start to jiggle, then touch the top left-hand corner of the Mail app to close it (does not delete it). Then touch the Home button again to close the multi-task bar and try again.

Hope this works but, if it doesn't, get back to us and we'll try some other suggestions.

OK - I'm assuming you have a working Internet link - i.e. you can access the Internet using, say, Safari?

Sometimes an email server really goes off-line for a while due to maintenance of system failure. Try logging into to your service provider using webmail and see if there's an announcement there. I've had this happen several times to me; email stops working, I get frantic, change everything, reboot, re-install etc - then I discover it was scheduled maintenance....

OK - still could be the email server. Webmail uses a different server to the POP or IMAP mail, so it's still a possibility that the server's down for a while....leave it a few hours and then we'll try some more stuff...

OK - several Members have reported problems with Yahoo, so it's likely to be them and not you!!

Hi there - I'm new here. Have an iPad 2 and seem to be having what is basically the same problem only strangely, my sbcglobal.net (yahoo!) email is working fine on my iPhone 4. This makes me think it's an iPad problem but....

Are there other people having this same problem on ipadforum.net? I didn't see any other threads.
 
Having a problem today as well.
I've tried the double tap on the home button and pressing home and start at the same time to reset.
Mine locked up - after resetting I could go to a couple emails and then it would lock up again.
Tried deleting some emails when it would work - closed program, opened it again looked at a few emails - froze up again - then reset - emails I had deleted were back when I got the program to open again.
Several times after the double tap and closing the program, it wouldn't even start up the mail program - got the email grey screen with nothing at all on it?
Finally when I had it restarted, I hit edit and deleted the emails there - hopefully they are gone this time - I'll have to check again.
 
johns - so your problem is also Yahoo!/Sbclglobal.net-ish related?

I suddenly stopped receiving emails on my iphone too. It must be them (Yahoo!). Sigh. Oh well. Not much we can do about it, I guess.
 
I wouldn't think my problem is related to Yahoo ?
I have comcast / xfinity for my server - but I don't know if 3g from AT&T is connected to Yahoo.
My wife told me that the guy next to her at work was having problems today with his email - through mobile me?
 
All I can say is my sbcglobal email stopped working on iPad, iPhone & online. It's completely shot, I guess. First time in 9 years I've ever seen anything like it.
 
Okay. I figured everything out. I am back to square one:

SBCGLOBAL.NET email is working fine on iPhone - CANNOT DELETE EMAILS (which is annoying and I can't figure out why it won't work suddenly)

SBCGLOBAL.NET email is working fine online - can delete emails online, no problem.

SBCGLOBAL.NET email is jacked up on iPad - will not load any messages at all.


This entire thing happened on Monday when I realized I suddenly could not delete SBCGLOBAL.NET emails on my iPad. I figured if i deleted and reinstalled the account on the iPad, that would help. Unfortunately, it made things worse and now it won't load any emails.

Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this on my iPad 2?
