What's new

Food anyone?

Dinner was Peking duck (or crispy duck in the UK), shiitake mushrooms and Chinese broccoli, black bean chicken, duck stir-fried with preserved crispy vegetables. Red bean soup and oranges for dessert.

"Real" dessert (at another restaurant) was chocolate coffee and cheesecake with raspberry sauce.

That reminds me of when it was little, I used to eat strong provolone cheese with grape jam. I know, probably doesn't sound great, but a I kid, I loved it.

Hi list,

In the UK, a story has been running recently about a Scottish schoolgirl's blog. She is commenting on School meals, and raising funds for school kitchens to be built in Africa.

It's a great story, and a great blog.

Google neverseconds.

Well done, "Veg".

Cool kid. Did you read that her school told her she couldn't keep up her reviews? At least that was last I read.

Going out for grub. Putting on yoga pants (elastic waistband, yes), preparing to consume mass quantities.

I love yoga pants. I don't do any yoga, but they're a woman's best friend for lounging and consuming.

Yes I did. And the authority had to make a huge U turn following a massive Internet backlash. More power to the kid.

I wasn't sure where to post this but Selfridges in London have built a cafe and a crazy golf course on their roof, six storeys up in the centre of London. The link to food, other than the cafe is that each of the holes is a London landmark made to look like jelly, iced cakes, etc. Here is a link with some photos http://www.notcot.com/archives/2012/05/the-big-rooftop-tea-golf-party.php

The Archangel

What fun! They could do with a bit of syncing with the proportions-- the Shard is tiny next to the Big Ben (got that wrong- thought it was the Shard at first glance!)--but that's being really picky. Love the strawberry jelly St Paul's. Delishus!

I just had toast with grape jam and feta cheese crumbed on top

Chays! Where have you been? Welcome back. I wondered whether you were studying or something?

We had a high tea at my sister-in-laws. Also celebrating fathers day as well. Scones, cream, jam, strawberries, quiche, pizza, sandwiches, cheese, bread, cakes, and best of all tea served the British way. Teapots, teacup and saucer etc...

Does "high" tea denote the hour or the importance of the gathering?

Giggle! No idea! We started at 4pm and it went on until 10pm. Totally full now. Definitely importance of gathering though
