What's new

Food anyone?

I can smell when my friends have been making adobo, that's for sure!

Filipino families that I know are amazingly close and warm. Turn up at a Pinoy party and everyone is related -- even the guests who aren't Filipino, it feels like! It's nice to be honorary Filipino for a day.

Really love to hear that...because it is really true! My parents and aunts are getting older..but I remember lits of our parties, singing, eating and having a great time with our neighbors who weren't Filipinos!

I have adobo once a week. The origin is Potuguese. With Filipino cuisine, I think there's more than a dozen variant of adobo.
I like the way they cook it in resort I visited. Stones is placed in the bottom inside of a clay pot. The stones heats up that the meat becomes so tender that it almost melts in your mouth. And the garlic, yum yum!
No one's a stranger when it comes to Filipino gatherings.

Good times. Good memories.

I hope that the new generations can keep it up -- the warmth as well as the food. I've always enjoyed the parties, but OMG the work that must be involved in cooking so much food!

I may try it baked, I love baked Brie and it looks like that it might bake well smothered in almonds!

I hope also, but sadly I don't see that happening to the extent of which we have been accustomed to. Time is so limited with my sister/brother's family...that they have little time for the food prep and the large family gatherings...but when we do have the time, we make the best of it!!

Definitely it's tiring. Waking up at 3am to start cooking. Sometimes we have beer while cooking to make it fun but not to the point of getting drunk.
Then the time nears. The utensils used should be cleaned and dried. The stress of not making any mistake, that every recipe is perfect, that everything will turn okay.
The hosts smells like garlic! Shower.
Is the videoke working? The mics too. How about the beer? Is everyone coming?
Then the party.
Oh my, who forgot the ice? Gosh. Often mistake.
See the faces. The smiles and laughter painted all over the place. It's noisy. It's a party!
Yes we're tired after but the feeling of immense satisfaction, definitely a success.
