I had some great company and ended up crying with laughter when their pudding of choice arrived (the worst rice pudding in the history of the world), you had to be there but it was one of those really funny moments.......the craic is always good!

How can you possibly get rice pudding wrong! Honestly, I love rice pudding, stodgy or runny!

How about partly watery and partly thick and lumpy, with stringy bits in it and a not quite correct taste.:(

It looked like something that had been surgically removed from a previous customer!

Ahhhh. Yorkshire pudding. Have you tried them with Golden syrup, Gab! Yummy. My daughter thought I was weird but she thought she'd give it a go. 3 guesses but yes, she loves it too. Syrup on rice pudding, syrup in natural yoghurt etc...

I have had them with golden syrup but jam or gravy is my favourite with Yorkshire pudding.

We seem to be swept along in the latest food fashion. Cup cakes!

Now, here in the UK, these little cakes have been around for decades. They were known as Fairy cakes.

Have we missed the opportunity of exporting a food type and name westwards across the pond? :)

But Richard, I like fairy cakes but cup cakes- yugh! Far too much icing to be healthy.

We have specialist shops selling these now too.

We call them cup cakes, fairy cakes, patty cakes or just small cakes.

If there is cream in them we call them butterfly cakes as you cut the top off divide in 2 then place them like wings on the cake.

I loooove cup cakes!!.......made 5 dozen of them last weekend for my daughters birthday party as requested. ;)

It's sort of late into the trend. I seem to remember them taking off with New York's Magnolia Bakery and "Sex in the City" maybe five years ago. That seemed to launch the dedicated stores in the U.S.

But hooray for any form of cake, I say!

In the U.S., Hostess cupcakes have long been a staple of childhood, too.

This is a Canadian dessert / snack delight.
