What's new

Food anyone?

It's with a regular soft tortilla...
Not too much egg taste in it :(, mainly potatoe & chorizo

Sounds pretty good, especially with the potato in it! :)

A neighbour just brought us 2 bags of squashes from his allotment. He has a glut and cannot shift them.

They are great looking. I have searched the Internet for recipes and found this promising link. http://www.canadianliving.com/food/seed_to_supper/10_easy_squash_recipes.php

I rather fancy the pen e with squash and black beans. However, do any of you have easy recipes for tasty dishes?

I am thinking of taking a box of what we cook over to our neighbour to say thank you.

Canadian Maple Squash is simple and requires little preparation.

Assuming you're using Acorn squash, cut them in half - remove seeds and string.

Melt a quarter cup of butter into a cup of maple syrup and brush liberally on squash flesh. At this point you can sprinkle with brown sugar but that's optional.

Place the squash on a foil lined baking pan (reduces clean up time) in a hot oven /400 F.,
for 1 hour, 1 hour 15 min. I'd you're cooking with gas 1 hour should do.

When it's done serve it as your vegetable dish right out of the shell.

I don't have any squashes but I think I may try the maple syrup and melted butter as a drink!!!

I have an extra sweet dumpling squash I can email to you. I don't put maple syrup, but put butter and brown sugar. Which is essentially the same thing, really.

Don't ever say that to a Canadian maple grower,
;)

Hey Goofy

Love hot dogs and potato salad.....just never had them together....

American hotdogs are surely the best! For me anyway. ;)

Just had my first taste of this fruit. My mom was delighted to find it at the international market. The fruit is called, Rumbutan. It's the same as a lychee, but very different outer skin. My mom and her family enjoyed this as kids.

...what it looks line unpeeled! It was very juicy and sweet. It had a large white seed in the center. It was tasty! :)
