Food anyone?

The blueys turned nicely red and ready to take this first batch out.

Here's looking at you kid! How can anything so tasty look so....., no that's unkind. I'm sure his mother thinks he's beautiful!
IMHO, although I like crayfish, lobster, prawns etc, nothing beats the Oz bluey for taste, unless it could be the giant Alaskan crab.

And here's the final product. All six of them about to go into the fridge to be had for supper tonight. With some sweet chilli sauce and a glass of chardonnay, oh, yes!

OB...you brought back memories of how my parents would buy a basket of blue crabs from the Filipino store and take them home. Oh, it was always exciting to see the crabs moving around and clinging onto each other as you tried to put them into the pot.

Me entire family loves to eat crabs, I don't mind it...it just gets to be such a mess and way long to get that white meat out!! ;)

Great pics...loved them! :)

I love soft shell Blue Crabs that are available here in Florida from May to November. You lightly bread them after a little preparation. You fry them up real crispy and eat the whole thing in a sandwich or as is. Some people also sauté them up too, but I love fried up super crispy.

You're right about the mess ski, but slow perseverance and a big bib make it enjoyable:) I even like that orange "mustard", which absolutely revolts my wife when watching me, and now no doubt everyone here;).

I know that plunging a live crab into boiling water kills it instantly, but in recent years I have had some worry whether there is any pain, bit silly probably, so I don't do that anymore. Instead, when I net a crab I cover it immediately with ice in a cooler box. I'm told that puts it gently to sleep and ready for the pot when I get home. Anyway, the primitive hunter/gatherer in me doesn't dwell on those things when I'm slurping on that juicy crab. Just as I don't think about all the activities that took place to get a juicy steak onto my plate.

I don't care for shellfish, but I love this scene from the movie Annie Hall, which I'm reminded of by all this seafood discussion:

"Annie, there's a big lobster behind the refrigerator. I can't get it out. Maybe if I put a little dish of butter sauce here with a nutcracker, it will run out the other side."

LOL love that! Annie could have used one of these too:)

I've just finished a tall glass of fresh beet, orange and lime juice, which actually wasn't half bad. If I hadn't have known what it was, I might've enjoyed it even more, lol.

That's a tasty meal. Yummy.

I'm just about to have Pea & Asparagus Open Ravioli......to quote The Rock, "just bring it"!

The Archangel

Yum--that sounds really good!

I just baked some chicken breasts and will begin prepping to make some chicken pot pie for tonight's dinner!
