What's new

Food anyone?

How would you like to share my supper with me? Just came back from crabbing with six nice blueys. (The Australian blue swimmer crab)

I'm going to have a light dinner tonight and have those beauties for supper. My wife is not over-enthusiastic about them, "will have one for taste" as long as I peel them and present her with the tasty white bits especially the claws. He he five for me:)

Here's a close up of one beauty before he goes into the pot.

And a face to face introduction.

And here's how I cooked them.

First into the pot with some black peppercorns, dill tips, caraway seeds and half a glass off dry white wine, with water of course. I have induction cook plates, with a fairly small pot, so have to do them three at a time.

Ah, nicely boiling away.

See next post for a continuation of the boiled blueys saga:)

A plunge into iced water for a few minutes.

Here's looking at you kid! How can anything so tasty look so....., no that's unkind. I'm sure his mother thinks he's beautiful!
IMHO, although I like crayfish, lobster, prawns etc, nothing beats the Oz bluey for taste, unless it could be the giant Alaskan crab.

And here's the final product. All six of them about to go into the fridge to be had for supper tonight. With some sweet chilli sauce and a glass of chardonnay, oh, yes!

Wow OB....they look great!

I'm not overly fussed, so much work and so messy!

But I too prefer the claws! Enjoy!

I'll try:) You of course have the marvellous Queensland mud crab. Less fussy to pick apart and the wow taste!

Actually had some of them at Easter....they were very tasty and fresh, straight off a boat with their catch. It's good to know a few Fishermen! ;)

That looks delicious OB! I love my seafood and my wife doesn't enjoy it. She annot understand why I go for seafood in restaurants.

How did your BH get on with the crabmeat?

Haven't had it yet Richard, set poised for devouring tonight. I will offer her some more, but sort of half-heartedly;)

I love seafood but being an animal lover, I prefer not to know what happens before they are cooked. Just call me girly. I don't care!

I can't eat crabs or fish if I've seen them alive. I give away any fish I catch. ;)
