if ur lazy, fettuccine pasta, mozzarella cheese, garlic and basil with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil chucked in the microwave is yum :)

It's interesting how our different tastes emerge.

Disgusting tastes and smells for one are nice for others.  

Certainly some old sauces etc (not mouldy) recipe-wise are distasteful. Ref Mint Sauce / jelly mentioned a while back in this thread.

Now we have grapefruit being dissected and digested. My parents prepared grapefruit by cutting in half, freeing the segments, then putting a pretty generous layer of White sugar on each Halkirk. The absorbed sugar sorted out the bitterness to a large extent.

There are super new foods and varieties out there to be tried - so go on spoil yourselves, give this gear a go.

Well, I must take my wife up to The Borough Market tomorrow, to buy lunch from one of those great stalls. I like the Hog Burgers, or venison sandwiches. Yes, we will spend some time checking out the specialist fruit and veg. Perhaps wash everything down with a pint or wine at The Market Porter.  

Have a good day shopping. I love trying new fruits. I tried a Dragon fruit in the Middle East recently. Nice.

My mother wrote a schools cookery book for the Carribean. It's out of print but s/h copies are around. Google Carribean cookery Winifred grey.

Mum used her book right up to the 1970s. We all ate well!

The book needs updating and decimalisation, but otherwise super. I would say that 

Richard,that's wonderful.
Do you think I could track down a copy.
The caribbean cook book sounds sensational
.
I collect cookery books from around the world.
My oldest is a first edition mrs Beeton

Have been working on a photo of the fruit.
Seems I have to wait till my return to Australia to post the photos I took with my mother holding the pamplemousse. And the mercott have it on my home computer.
Will try and see if I can get a photo at the market.
Think they are finished for the season.

..... season.

Yes, I am sure you can. Google it. I think Mum used Mrs Beeton as an inspiration for her book's layout.

I have her Mrs Beeton and her cookery book on my bookshelf.

Good luck with the hunt.
