yes i will,they get orange flowers so they look quite pretty.No...when the runner beans come up!

i always steam them,i steam all my veg......can they be eaten raw?Do you steam them or eat them raw?

hmmm,wonder what they would taste like? Maybe if they are young and just picked,i might look into that.We can eat certain beans raw or cooked...so I wasn't sure!

Richard i have tried crushed egg shells and coarse gravel but they still got to them,I'm afraid i have resorted to the chemical deterrent,if i hadn't there would be very little left now,i haven't heard of the variety they don't like but if i find it i will let you know.I was going to ask you about that problem. Apparently the Eco solution is to surround host as with coarsely crushed sea shells as S&S's don't like traversing the rough surface.
I also heard on a Chelsea Garden Show programme that there is a variety of Hosta the S&S don't like. Any clues?
