What's new

Gardening!

Im planting my runner beans this week,i have a big old pig trough and i put them in there and they grow up sticks against the shed.

my Hosta's just coming up,now i have to try and keep the snails off them.<img src="http://www.ipadforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=42408"/>

I was going to ask you about that problem. Apparently the Eco solution is to surround host as with coarsely crushed sea shells as S&S's don't like traversing the rough surface.

I also heard on a Chelsea Garden Show programme that there is a variety of Hosta the S&S don't like. Any clues? :)

I'm loving those photos of your gardens, Hayles, Skimomkey, Poisonivy &co.

I do like the cottage look. I would love to let 75% of our rearmost lawn grow wild with flowers etc left to their own devices, but the idea is constantly vetoed! :(

We need to start looking for low maintenance ideas though.

Richard i have tried crushed egg shells and coarse gravel but they still got to them,I'm afraid i have resorted to the chemical deterrent,if i hadn't there would be very little left now,i haven't heard of the variety they don't like but if i find it i will let you know.
