9to5 Mac reports that Google has updated its Hangouts app with several handy new features that were available first on its Android app last month.
Google has previously said that it wants to make the Hangouts app more intelligent, and the new features included in the update bear that out.
First up we have location-sharing, whereby the app will now automatically detect when one of your contacts in a text chat asks your whereabouts, letting you share your location with just one tap.
Also included in the update is the ability to add your phone number to make it that much easier for your friends to find you, and you can also now import your contacts into the app.
The introduction of Status messages is another handy and fun new feature, whereby you can share what you’re currently doing, just as you might on Facebook or Twitter.
Also, you can now access SMS and voicemail messages from Google Voice via the app, and if you’re a fan of sticker packs, you’ll get more of those with the update as well.
