HDNI mirroring

Search didnt turn up anything so i thought i would ask directly

ipad 2 with HDMI adapter.......
Works fine if connected directly to TV..
But it doesnt work if you hook HDMI cord up to Denon 890 A/V receiver.

Does anybody have any experience hooking it up to A/V receivers??
