How do you get Safari to reformat page?

Hi

I'm new here.

Just got our iPad and one question I have is...

How do you get Safari to reformat the page you are viewing when you zoom in?

I.e. when viewing e-bay, if you have a large page it gets smaller and smaller until the whole page shows, the left column and right column are far apart with a lot of space in between.

When you zoom in to make is readable it leaves the wide space in the middle and you have to scroll back and forth to see both.
The page is wide enough to display both if the page was reformatted to remove the space as it would on a PC.

I know that it can do this because sometimes it does it on it's own, but I don't know how you would trigger it an force it to do so when it doesn't.

Thanks for the help.

When you zoom in, are you double-tapping or are you pinching out with your fingers? I ask because usually, double tapping on the middle section of most web pages makes it zoom in to that section just enough so that you don't have to pan back and forth to read the web site.

So try the double tap method. If you already are and have this problem, holler back and we'll take another stab at it.

This is a known issue with eBay. For what ever reason this happens with that web page. Maybe they just want you to use their app instead.

Hi

I installed the Dolphin browser and that took care of the page format thing in eBay.

Now if I could just get it to act as default browser I would be all set, but when I click on a link it opens in Safari.

Hi again.

After reading your post I installed the eBay app.

Oddly, it doesn't work any different then Safari.

Thanks again for the help.
