My ipad dock isnot working. Was fine until this morning. I give a good cleaning, but when i conect the keyboard is not interacting as use to. Still charging. I restart the ipad but nothing change. Any ideas in what I can do?

OK - a couple of questions, if that's OK? I'm assuming this is the keyboard dock and you're not talking about the charging dock and the Apple Bluetooth keyboard?

Let me assume it's the keyboard dock! You say you've 'restarted' the iPad - by that do you mean you've completely powered it down by pressing and holding the Power button until the slider control appears, accepting the offer to switch off and then, when the screen is blank, restarting the iPad again?

Have you tried the keyboard with several apps? Does it work with any apps or not at all?

When you need to type - and you've got the keyboard dock connected - does the on-screen keyboard come up?

The easiest first way to try to solve ‘unexplained’ or ‘unusual’ problems with the iPad are:-

Force the offending app to close. If you have iOS 4.2 or 4.3 double-press the ‘Home’ button to bring up the multi-task bar at the bottom of the screen. Press *and hold* any icon until they start to ‘jiggle’. Then tap the top left-hand corner of the app that you want to close. It will ‘disappear’ from the list. Don’t panic - you’ve not deleted it, just closed it. Now tap the Home screen and the multi-task bar will disappear. Re-open the iPad’s app and see if the problem has resolved itself. If not, it’s on to possible solution number two!!
Restart the iPad. Press *and hold* the Power button. After a couple of seconds a slider control will appear asking you to confirm that you really want to switch the iPad off (this is all you’ll be doing). Slide the control to accept. A rotating white ‘bezel’ will appear in the iPad screen as the iPad powers down (it takes a few seconds, just like it would if you were shutting down your PC). When the screen of the iPad has gone completely blank, press *and hold* the Power button for a couple of seconds until the white Apple logo appears and the iPad starts to power up. This takes several seconds, so be patient. During the power up the automatic screen orientation function is disabled, so don’t panic. A few seconds before the power up is complete, the iPad plays a little ‘jingle’ and then you’re back to the Home screen. Restart the iPad’s app and see if the problem persists. Apple (and Forum members) recommend that you power down your iPad at least once a week, just as you might regularly completely switch off your PC. The normal procedure of just briefly pressing the Power button of the iPad merely puts it to ‘sleep’. Most Forum members have found that one of the two methods I’ve mentioned here cure a whole bunch of unexplained problems and are an easy first step to resolving most anything that happens on the iPad.

If that is one trick all newbies and the rest of us know, it's that one. The cure all for just about everything! Tim to the rescue!

Well, well, well... This is a post from a dual-converted coffee/homecinema/computer buff. The very first computer I played with was a Mac (a model later re-launched as Macintosh Classic) all those years ago. I was hooked then but later converted to PC, but since a few weeks back I'm all into Macs again. Ever since I got my iPad2 in my hands. It's a 32 GB WiFi-model only, but seeing as there are numerous WiFi-spots around and the fact that my mobile has unlimited web traffic, this is no big issue with me.

I truly just adore using the pad, and I find myself using the laptop more and more infrequent; only and mostly for the few things I can't do on the pad...

Today, though, I tried the "Digital Copy" feature found on some BD-discs, and found it incredibly hard to get iTunes to accept the files. This, since I managed only to retrieve ".wmv" files from the discs. I gave up, made me a couple of nice cappuccinos, and mumbled (well, roared more like it) that it sucks. PCs, that is... Should've got meself an Airbook as well while I was at it...

That said, I just love my pad and this here forum. Keep up the good work all! I'll do!

MR. Gatsby

I recently returned from a six week trip to the UK and Slovenia. Anticipating my travel, I purchased my iPad, iPad 1,which was on sale with the arrival of the iPad 2. Cost being a consideration, I bought the least expensive offered. This was a mistake because it quickly filled its memory with the many photos I took. Attempting to download the Albums and Events and create room for additional photos for the first time, I left out a vital step and deleted most of my Slovenia shots before completing the transfer. Unfortunately, there is no apparent way to rectify my mistake. Other than that, I very much like the iPad for its portability, a lot less bulky and less heavy than my Macbook Pro. I will probably graduate to the most recent iPad iteration once Mr. Jobs gets his head into the Cloud and his Cloud into the air.

I'm not new to the forums, but I did just purchase my first iPad 2 yesterday. loving it so far... learning alot so far... thanks for the great info so far...

hi, Im a newcomer. do u know how to unlick ipad2 at&t? Thanks for ur help

The iPad is not locked - you can use a microSIM from any service provider. You'll see several threads on this Forum about this topic. There is some slight controversy as to whether the AT&T iPad needs to be initialised on an AT&T network first of all, because the initial menus appear to be AT&T specific, but an increasing number of Members are telling us that they've had no problems with using their iPad, bought in the US, when they get home using a local SIM card.
