Some do, unfortunately I had to leave before the boats were completed so I have no photos of the completed, decorated and named boats.

Thanks for your photos of the day, Sci. I was interested in the story behind the statue of the Queen. I've seen her riding Burmese at Trooping the Colour when broadcast, and the commentator will say Burmese was her favourite horse.

It was interesting how the posts re your photos were intertwined with those about Twerppoet's moon rise etc app. Perhaps the rescue teams could put the app to use for seeing survivors of the sinkings in the lake at night! :)

Good idea! :D

To be honest, I rarely plan a photo, but I'm always planning to plan some photos; which is why I have the app. :D

I have to confess I did something typically female: I was curious (as usual), so looked for the app in App Store. And then downloaded it because I liked the icon. :D

The ratings are excellent.
It didn't really find my house, though. It chose the one on the other side of the street. :-)

This is not one of the dragonflies from the backyard thread. I saw this one afterwards, sitting in the sun, wings glistening.

Here's sunlight reflected off the windows of a building across the alley from this building.

Gorgeous!

Johanna, I used to be scared of dragonfly s when I was a kid but now find them fascinating! Those are beautiful graceful and fragile seemingly photo's! Kind of like your avatar. Ethereal! Thanks for posting!

Thank you! :-)
I always thought that dragonflies are beautiful creatures, even more so when you see them in sunshine.

So true! When I was a kid we went to a lovely lake every year for a week. All I wanted to do was float on my air mattress all day. I would get way out in to the lake and a dragonfly would land on me. That was what scared me because the only thing I knew about them was how many iridescent colors they had which mesmerized me. But I didn't want them landing on me! For all I knew they could sting or bite me! :-)

That was the arrow I meant. Perhaps I didn't choose the right words.

Thanks so very much Johanna! Oh, now I see the purple arrow around the words!!! YAY. Happy dance!

Hi squib, we have never spoken before but I read your post a few days back about your accidents and your amazing strength. You have moved me to share this with you......as kids my brother and I were inseparable and had unbelievable amounts of fun together. He was the elder by 18 months. When he was 14 he dived into a river from a tree on the riverbank. His head jammed into the mud at the bottom of the river and he would have drowned/suffocated if I had not pulled him out. Unfortunately he broke his neck and was paralyzed from the neck down. He never forgave me for saving his life because he was paralyzed but....not only that... also blamed me for his paralysis. Apparently some wise medical fool had told him that people with his injuries should never be moved as this will, in most cases, cause further damage. I suppose the idiot was not aware of the circumstances. I had to do something or let him die... Anyway he died a few years ago at 65 years old a bitter and resentful man who did not speak to me for over 50 years. You, on the other hand have inspired me with your amazing outlook on life and have helped me to wash away some the unbearable guilt that has been my burden, rightly or wrongly, for so many years.

Thank you so much Diane!

Roy
