JoLo Winery & Vineyards - first visit to a fairly new winery (5 years opened, vines in nearly 10 years) in the shadow of Pilot Mountain (about a 45 minute drive from home) - a number of American and hybrid grapes used in the wines (e.g. Norton or Cynthiana, Chambourcin, Traminette, Seyval Blanc), which have won a lot of awards - bought 2 bottles of red (first two listed) - we had an early dinner at their Post Ends Restaurant, which was excellent; Susan started w/ the Caprese salad and I the steak tartar; her main course was the rack of lamb, while I had the ahi tuna (minimally seared) w/ an oriental presentation, i.e. rice and steamed bok choy. Pics below my own w/ the iPhone, except the last of the restaurant. Dave :)

Giradman,

First of all, great pictures! You are a person of muy own tastes. Love streak tartar and overcooking a fine piece of fish is unthinkable. Barely seared is right! Ponzu vinaigrette sauce with sesame seeds?

This is actually an old coffee farming village turned private resort in Sapa, North Vietnam, They only have several "villas" available surprisingly good WiFi. I sat all day sipping Vietnamese ice coffee on terrace/veranda and catching up with friends and family on the tablet. The place did get boring and was a bit hard to get to.
