What's new

iOS 7

I don't really like the look of the new icons or some of the apps, notes looks like a half finished app now and the calendar is harder to see clearly. I also have problems with how airplay works on my iPad 3, swiping up does nothing and the only way I can get an airplay icon is in a video. I do like the new radio feature and my iPad does seam to be a little more responsive than before, I also like the way you close out programs now. I hate the email program, I have preview turned off but if I want to delete an email now I have to select it and it opens it up, I don't want spam email To ever open.

Have you done a reset? Might all work after one.

When I first upgraded notifications didn't work, this morning they do!

I like the pano feature on the camera :)

If you do a one finger swipe up from the very bottom of the screen you open the control panel and reveal the Airplay symbol in any app...... <img src="http://www.ipadforums.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=48202"/> The Archangel
Thanks, I found my problem, my case is preventing me from getting far enough down on my up swipe, I removed my iPad from its case and it works. I have a rubberized case so I don't drop my iPad, these things are slippery.

OK I now have iOS-7 up and running on the iPads and iPhone - all looks very interesting and innovative, excepting the first thing I attempt to do is adjust the size of the WALLPAPER - and as far as I can see the ‘Move & Scale’ just do not work - you get an ENLARGED picture what ever you do - or have I missed something????

Check out Mickey330&rsquo;s post in this thread to see if it helps http://www.ipadforums.net/ios-7/113946-ipad4-bug-issue-after-upgrading-ios7.html

I've spent an extended time on a friends iPhone 5 which he upgraded. I know very well I shall not be upgrading my iPad 3 and iPhone 4. My concern now is my MacBook too as I expect it too will end up looking stupid and functioning in a way the will need a huge bunch if my time to re-learn how to do things to achieve what I already did perfectly ok. I my well say goodbye to Apple and accept the brilliance that came from Jobbs is over.

As a man who is an electronics engineer and graphics artist I hate the look of the new flat icons and white brightness. Previous iOS that made use of the fact the such fine detail could be displayed by the Retina and now this has gone (perhaps for a speed advantage). Under iOS6 I have a very colorful, nifty looking gadget in my iPhone and iPad. Years ago I was taught the importance of when making or choosing something that you use or deal with a lot it must be functional, eye catching and something you personally enjoy every time you go to it. Now for me iOS7 will be GROAN at every switchon.

My last bastion of hope is if I Jailbreak the things and see if some kind person has come up with a better system that doesn't make my Apple kit look like it was interaction screens art was designed by a MORON. Otherwise, second hand market here some kit comes and it will be back to the PCs and Android....

I absolutely hate the new icons, I'm a 40 year old adult, not a 5th grader! I can't stand the contact section as well as some other things. So I'm going to check out an Android phone tomorrow. I may even pick up a new tablet. I'll go ballistic if they try and pass the same crud off on my MacBook Pro.

Yea wayneb as the moderatotpr says you have two choices to delete mails before opening and they were available on ios 6.
You click "edit". Then tap the circle at the left opf each mail you don't want then there is a trash (delete) at the bottom of the mails
Other way as said before swipe the mail from right to left using one finger then select "trash". (Delete)

Like others I am becoming familiar and starting to like the new version. The bright backgrounds I don't particularly like when viewing photos but the my daughter does so it takes all types. Settle down and you'll love it

When I tap edit and then tap the the circle it opens the email in the preview pane, I have preview turned off in settings, in IOS 6 I would swipe left to right to get the delete option, for IOS 7 Apple changed the swipe direction to right to left. Why they decided to change swipe direction, I have know idea but it seems stupid to keep changing things around when it would have been just as easy and have the same result to leave the swipe direction the same.

The swipe up from the bottom to get to the airplay icon does not work with my iPad in my Griffin Survivor case, now it is a pain to use airplay for me, if I were in charge of designing IOS 7, I would never have dialog boxes with dark gray text on light gray.

I think the color schemes and flat icons look ugly and are a huge step backwards as far as GUI design, so far the only advantage for me over IOS 6 is the new iTunes Radio feature. I would go back to IOS 6 if I could.

I too think that in some area's iOS7 is not so good as the previous iOS6.13, none of us are the same, we have different likes and dislikes, especially so with colour schemes, so it is hard to please everyone, but the new colour scheme on iOS7 IMHO is very poor and unattractive.

I found text on some things like video and film titles no longer show up, because some silly clown has not grasped the fact that white text on a white background does'nt show up well, it becomes invisible...lol Some have said they found it faster, but sadly that was not my experience, lag was noticable in a few area's including keyboard input, which was never noticable on the previous OS.

I did try it for 2 days, but decided to return my iPad3 back to 6.13 which although it lacks a few of the iOS7 functions which TBH I wont miss, at least it looks a damm sight better, and no lag at all. Everything just works beautifully again, so I shall be making sure the new firmware has been sorted out before I ever consider upgrading again. ( sorry about readability, but for some reason my return key does nothing on this site, ok everywhere else). Edited: Must be a character set issue on PC I/Explorer as the return key works on iPad.
