What's new

iOS5 worth the update?

I upgraded a week ago to iSO 5 on my iPad. It worked fine until yesterday. I've rebooted several times. That fixed the sound problem. Later a reboot fixed the video. The mail issue I cannot solve. There is no reason for it. Nothing has been changed from when it worked correctly yesterday. It receives email, but will not recognize any email server I send out. Even replays. I guess I'll have to move to android phone.
"Rebooted" = Restarted or Reset?

Did you have a look at your mail settings or delete and set up the email account again?

Also, have you considered that it may be a mail server or ISP problem and nothing to do with your iPad?

Not sure how an Android phone fits...but okay.

Reboot = restart
Looked at all settings. Same as the have bee and are correct
It says "server xxxxx rejected" I tried it with 8 different email from different people
Don't know why or how to fix.
Everything goes to outbox an outbox freezes or crashes when you try to send fom ther.
It worked fine yesterday

Instead of restarting your iPad, try resetting it as mentioned in my earlier post.

The mail problem is a settings or server issue. If you only have one email account on your iPad you only have one mail server to "try"...where other emails came from or are going to won't make any difference. If the mail server can't authenticate your email account it won't allow you to send anything (to anyone). As mentioned above, check your authentication settings. That it worked yesterday may mean that there's something wrong with your mail account and/or with your ISP's mail server. To find out, check and see if everything is good on a computer. If so, match up your iPad's settings with those on the computer. If you can't send mail from your computer, it's a server issue and nothing to do with your iPad.

Again, it may mean deleting and setting up your email account on your iPad to clean things up...data on any computer can get corrupted.

I'd still try resetting your iPad first though.

Sorry to keep on, but I have restarted, rebooted or what ever you want to call turning off the iPad with the button on top - about 5 times.
I have now deleted all 4 accounts on the iPad that worked per fiscally well before and re-did all of them.
All my email work on my computer PC And my android phone.
Sorry to bug you, but I do not know how to reach any apple support
Thanks for trying, but all of those suggestions do not work

Here's how to get multitasking on iPad 1 without jailbreaking! Mild tech difficulty.

How to Enable Multitasking Gestures and Display Mirroring on the iPad 1 (Without Jailbreaking)
I can confirm that this works! It's great to have multitasking gestures back on my iPad again (without jail breaking)!

FWIW the RedSnow DFU instructions on the little installation program did not work on my iPad. To put the original iPad into DFU mode:
  • Connect ipad to your computer via USB while it's turned on.
  • Open iTunes
  • Hold the iPads Sleep/Wake switch (power button on the top of the iPad) down until the power off slider appears
  • Power off the iPad completely (wait for the progress spinner to disappear).
  • Hold the Sleep/Wake switch AND the Home button down for a full 10 seconds.
  • After 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake switch while still holding the Home button.
  • Continue to hold the Home button for another 10 seconds.
  • A pop-up message will appear on iTunes saying it has detected an iPad in recovery mode, you must restore...
  • Run the RedSnow app
Here's a summary of what this will do:

• Swipe four fingers—to the left or to the right—to navigate through open applications.

• Swipe four fingers up to access the running apps tray and playback buttons, including Airplay controls.

• Pinch with all your fingers to go to the home screen from any app, without touching your home button.

Thanks for the head's up!

I'm going to update my earlier Xcode enabled post for other folks:

Cheers!
