Hi my name is bob. I am new to apple tv IPAD3 . After fighting the computer generation for years my wife finally got me involved. I started out with a cell phone after 50 years. Now I have an IPAD 3 a AppleTV and my own Samsung TV. After learning how to download movies to my telephone I graduated to and IPAD and Apple TV. I want to watch the movies on my IPAD on the samsung TV and I am confused about the streaming. I am learning but this is now wearing my wifes patience. 2 days and nothing. Can some one help me. Would be greatly appreciated for an old timer like me. Thanks

First, if you have an Apple TV, you can stream movies that you get from Apple directly the TV without using the iPad. If your movies come from another source, then you can play them on your iPad and your Apple TV will show them on your TV. These are two slightly different ways to play movies.

Follow this somewhat silly video to connect your Apple TV to your Samsung TV:

That link assumes you are running iOS 7 on your iPad 3.

It's almost the same in earlier iOS versions, there is a little rectangle on the right side of the volume slider with an arrow in it. Tap that to bring up the options for mirroring.
