What is wrong with the iPad and how old is it? The reason I ask is that Apple are generally very sympathetic to broken iPads - particularly the screens - even outside the warranty period and even when the problem is clearly not Apple's fault. They have an unacknowledged, 'once-in-a-lifetime', "we'll deny it if you ask us", replace an iPad for free. It's not generally known and many store staff don't know about it either, but search this Forum and you'll find many Members who have had their iPads replaced for free.
