Ipf vs safari vs tapatalk

Midranger4

iPF Noob
I've noticed site features available in safari aren't available in IPF.

I've not tried tapatalk.

How do you access the site and why?

Thanks!

Hi Midranger-I use the safari and the IPF forum at the same time. The IPF app is easier to view and send out PMs, but hard to perform Moderating tasks..at least for me, it is! You are right that the app doesn't have all the features that I am used to seeing on Safari. Once again, it may be in the App-I just don't know about it.

I haven't used Taptalk, but do know of at least one Staff Moderator who uses it and likes it.

I have this forum saved in my bookmarks in safari so usually just access it that way. However, I do use the app sometimes, mostly on my iPhone for both iPad forums and iPhone forums.

Same goes for me as for Skimonkey. Moderating is much easier using the website view, but I have a third way of accessing the forum. If you touch on a thread title, it will open up a Safari page inside the iPF app, on which you can see everything except the URL of the page. You are also automatically signed in using this method. I use Safari if I want to have multiple pages open, or if I want to copy and paste URLs in posts. I use the app to post pictures, as Safari will not do it.

Thanks much Skimonkey.

I just spent the last hour navigating the site in Safari. I discovered notifications, likes, my member page, all kinds of goodies I've not found in IPF. Tonight is the first nite I navigated away from my standard subscribed and current thread views lol! Seems I'm all over the forums as I didn't even take notice what area a post originated from when responding.

IPF is certainly great for post handling. Safari for the rest of the content.

Still curious what tapatalk brings to the table......must not press purchase app button......

Now THAT is quite handy!!!

I'm one of the ones that uses Tapatalk. I find it very handy to have all the forums I visit, save one, in the same app. I do everything via the app, to include my moderating duties.

I can look at my messages, all the forum posts, see all the most recent posts (or sort them by forum). In addition, Tapatalk also has a function so that you can open the app in Safari.

I switched to Tapatalk a while ago, when I discovered it allowed me to make the font larger. Now, the IPF app also allows for increasing the font, but I'm used to Tapatalk - mainly for the access to all forums in one app reason.

So, go ahead, Midranger4, press that purchase button. You know you want to! :D

I bought it....lol! Will test drive it today thanks!

While I have a few seasoned pros on the line....

I use Gadwin Printscreen extensively for demonstrating troubleshooting techniques on the windows platform.

Is there a similar tool that takes rectangular area screen grabs from the iPad? I could create them on my laptop I suppose but it sure would be nice if something native existed.

I am not sure if this is what you are asking for, but look at the called Skitch!

I am also with Skimonkey and Kevin here. I prefer the app for browsing the threads, PM's, attaching photos and changing my avatar as it is so much simpler. But yes will use the Site for Moderating duties and it's good to be able to have a few pages open.

I've been curious about Tapatalk and I've just noticed a member has mentioned Forum Runner too. May dabble with that as they have a free lite version to give it a whirl.

I second Skimonkey's suggestion of Skitch, it really is a very good tool.

I just noticed this last month which was very helpful-you can also tap on the person's avatar to pull their profile up.

Also-don't forget that landscape shows more options for the app-which i tend to forget.

I, too also need to check out taptalk!

That be the type of tool I seek thanks!

As you can see...the staff here really loves Skitch...particularly the guy with the black top hat!!

You will see skitch illustrations scattered all over the forum! It's really helpful!
