What's new

My books doesnt sync anymore!

I do not understand. see what I have and what I do.
I got Windows.
I have a folder loaded with ePub books.

Here what you need to do:
  1. Open iTunes.
  2. Connect the iPad
  3. Open The ePub Folder with any file manager ou like.
  4. Select some books with the mouse.
  5. Drag the selected books into the iTunes Book area.
  6. Books are being copied (It is actually the pointer being defined)
  7. See all the selected books in the iTunes Library part
  8. Select all iBooks in the iTunes Library and drag then to the Device area to the Books location.
Job done. All iBooks on the iPad.

No Sync. No nothing.
Same thing with PDF files (Magazines)
Never ever mark the sync sign for books on the iTunes

That's what I did Peled, that's the problem. I don't have this problem before. I had been doing fine till I restored the itunes library.
Also, I drag and drop it to Stanza . Every book appeared on Stanza. So, it could be the ibook app right. BUT, I already deleted and reinstalled the ibook app from both my ipad and itunes. and yet, problem persist.

Any other solution people?

Oh, heck, Joy I feel so helpless! I'm surprised TwerpPoet hasn't been on yet, he's the king of books in my eyes? Please don't lose hope! Just keep this thread alive and someone will notice! Have you tried the books threads on search. I know it's tedious but there has got to be someone who has the same problem!

Can you try doing that procedure on another computer with another iTunes.
You can try any iTunes since you do not sync anyway.
It may be the iTunes fault

I'll keep this alive. I like to see some answers.
Let's wait for TwerpPoet, I like his insights on this.
Oh Hayle, I was searching the web for the same problem but found none. I still dont why it doesnt work anymore. :o:confused:

When I was pointing out another computer I was reflecting what I have.
I got 2 PC's at home and one at work , all of them are authorized for 3 iTunes accounts ( For accessing iStores also in other countries). All of them are fully synced (application wise) to my single iPad.
That way I got triple back-up, and can try to go to another PC if I got a problem with the current one.

I think you can get any PC out there with iTunes. Log with your iPad ID and passord, and try to move the Epub from the (New) PC into the iTunes Library, and fron there into the iPad.

It should be easy , and remember to un-mark all sync marks, all over the place.

This morning I formatted my Lap Top.
Prior to that I copied all my 3 Giga Bytes worth of iTunes directory
"C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes
to my D: drive.
Once I was done and installed the new iTunes, I replaced the above directory , and got all my
App's ready. It was as if my Lap-Top, never lost my iPad. and I followed that with copying some new books and magazines.

Why that point ?
If you can put your hand on a PC that doesn;t have iTunes - It is very easy to duplicate your iTunes into it.

Hi! Peled, so I take my itunes backup folder. install itunes to another pc. and place my itunes folder into the new itunes. I then plug my ipad. Uncheck "sync". ? Then drag and drop the files. Okay here's the part that I get confused. If I wont hit the sync will the books be transferred to ipad?

Im at work, I might have to reread this again. :p oh, btw you were the one who had a fracture. how is it healing?

1st thing - Yes I'm the one who fractured my "femoral head" by a lady who drove her bicycle into my hip,
and It was on the pavement !!!
I was saved from an operation, because of my iPad. The doctors loved my lecture and presentation of it,
so they just let me rest (at home) and not move. Funny to put it that way - but in reality iPad saved me ( 100%) from an operation.
I am back as new walk every day for an hour , and on weekend 2 hours (this is year #5 for doing so)

To hour point.
You may do it even simpler.
  1. Just install iTunes in a new PC.
  2. Authorized it to what ever account you have on the iPAD
  3. No need to copy anything from previous iTunes.
  4. Connect your iPad
  5. Un-mark all Sync's all over the place.
  6. Move some iBooks and PDF's from PC to iTunes (Sea Picture of PC to iTunes)
  7. Move Selected iBooks from iTunes Library to iPad area.
Done

If I do the above Peled, what am I looking out for? Do I see if the Pdf's be transferred to Ipad?

You sure will.
The PDF files will show up on the default PDF book shelf, and the ePub on the Books Shelf.

Try with a single PDF file first. It'll be very quick.
As soon as you drag the PDF file from the iTunes Library into the Device area, you will see that the screen on the iPad is being changed , showing "Sync" .
After a while the "sync" page will be cleared, and few minutes later, you'll see the PDF file popping up on the PDF shelf.

As mentioned already, I'm doing it on a daily basis.

Peled, I have to remind you that on itunes with my ipad plug. when I click on devices and choose books on the tabs on upper right. I can clearly see the PDF files.
But when I sync it, none is transferred and I get an error saying Books cannot be found. weird huh.
Anyway, following what you said. IF and IF with the new itunes and a Pdf Transfer will show on my ipad. What would this mean? that my old itunes has to be reinstalled again?

So let me see.
Your iTunes can see the PDF files that are in your iBook application, but the iBook application itself on the iPad is empty - showing empty shelves.

Since you performed some kind of restoration, I would assume, that iTunes is getting from the iPad some kind of a list file, in which iPad is listining all it's book.
Problem is that the iPad itself don't have these books. It has just the list file.

So you need to transfer at least one PDF file manually, to see if the iBook application is functioning.

There is a nice program named "iMacsoft iPad to PC Transfer" , which you can check to actualy transfer your PDF files from the iPad to the PC.
If the files are ON the iPad, the application will detect them and ofer to transfer them to the PC.

I got some 10 GB of PDF's on my iPad - You think it is practical to perform a Sync ?
No way !
Do I keep a backup for the PDF's?
No.
Do I keep a backup for the ePub ?
Sure I do.

P.S
Today (9-May) in Israel is Memorial day, and tomorrow it is Independent day (Country 63 years young)
.
