Another great iPad 3 story on MacRumors today with a new photo taken from a forum post at Chinese website WeiPhone, which appears to be of an iPad 3 logic board, complete with an A5X system-on-a-chip. This is particularly interesting if genuine, as the general thinking prior to this point has been that the iPad 3’s new and improved processor would be called the A6 (purely because the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S have the A5). It would seem that this is not the case though, with the new chip being called the A5X. The chip bears the date code of 1146, which means that it was made on the 46[SUP]th[/SUP] week of 2011, the week of November 14-20. MacRumors says that in the photo you can also clearly see two 16 GB flash memory chips from Hynix and an Apple-branded chip in the shape of a rectangle. They say that this chip is similar to power management chips that have been in previous versions of the iPad, but think that this could be an upgraded version as it has a higher number. [/FONT]
