Yes, wonderful. A great uncle was a booking clerk at one station before he emigrated to Canada inter-war. I'm planning a visit to the London Transport museum. :)

January 16, 1919; the 18th amendment to the U.S. Constitution takes effect, prohibiting the" manufacture sale or transportation of intoxicating liquors for beverage purposes," is ratified and becomes law. Prohibition begins and so began the large scale rise of organized crime in the United States.
 
On this day in 1901 - Frank Zamboni, American inventor (d. 1988 ) was born. I wonder what he went on to invent? ;)
