What's new

On this day in history.

20th June, 2013. The Queen's horse Estimate won the gold cup at Ascot. It's the first time that a Royal steed has won the cup. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/horse-racing/22985971

Her delight is wonderful viewing.

Looking at the death grip the groom has on the halter, I suspect Estimate's manners may lag behind his racing skills. Then again, it may just be the groom has a very good idea of how bad it would look if Estimate knocked over the Queen, even by accident. ;)

Lol....I think you're right here TP! That would be just horrifying to see anything happen to our Queen! ;)

Wikitravel:

In the 1980s, the aging highway was decommissioned. Much of its stretch had been overlaid or routed around by broader, newer interstate highways. But the embedded idea of Route 66 refuses to die – as demonstrated by the 2006 Disney/Pixar movie Cars – and thousands of kicks-seekers continue to follow the remnants of the road from Chicago to Los Angeles to this day.
