Please help me! iPad volume button problem

I dropped my ipad 2 from the bed and now it has a small dent on the ipad's right corner. Although the volume button is not jammed or anything, I can not turn the volume down- I mean I push the down button and nothing happens. The up button is normal. I think there must be hardware problem. (T.T). Poor me!!! Anyone got any ideas to repair the button?:(

Hi there and welcome.

I'd be inclined not to risk more damage by doing a repair, as you can quickly adjust the the volume by doing a four finger swipe up then scroll left to right to get to the software volume control.....

Thanks for replying. At the moment it's the only way, but I don't want to give up on the button. What a sad day...

Hi Ilpleut - welcome to the forum! :) Well if the drop was such to put a dent in the device, then I suspect from a high height and/or a hard floor? Whether the control electronics and/or a cable was damage/loosened is of course impossible to say w/o opening up the iPad - not an easy endeavor, e.g. take a look at a repair on iFixit. Not sure if you have an Apple Store near you in Finland, but that would be my suggestion, especially if you have an extended warranty. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I forgot all about the four finger swipe. Thanks for the reminder.
