Pogoplug - does it stream over WiFi or internet?

Hi there,
I'm looking at getting a Pogoplug and gather theres a great app for Ipad - just wondering whether playing music/video on your Ipad from the pogoplug streams over LAN or through the internet (ie using bandwidth)...I am in South Africa and bandwidth is not cheap...

Yes it streams over wifi, I have the app for my iPad and on my smart phone.
