Putting emails in trash can

I have a hotmail account for my emails and have used it successfully on my laptop. Since purchasing my IPad and accessing my emails from same I find that any emails sent to the trash can reappear day after day, unlike the laptop. Is there a setting controlling this or is this just a feature of the IPad?

Just to clarify, you are deleting a email, it appears in the trash can, then reappears in the inbox?

Yes the deleted emails appear several times in the trash can as I delete them several times. I have tried deleting both through the edit route and using the trash icon, the results are the same.
