I upgraded from an iPad 2 to an iPad 3, and have my iPad 2 Cydia apps & settings backed up with PkgBackup. Will I be able to restore the iPad 2 apps and settings to my iPad 3? Do I have to pay for PkgBackup again to get it or can they see I already paid once and I will be able to redownload?

Thanks!

The easy answer out of the way first: You are able to install your Cydia tweaks to your new device the same way you can install App Store apps. Once you have paid for them, they are yours to use on other/new devices (assuming, of course, you use the same ID to get them as you used to purchased them). So, this includes PKGBackup...

However.

You may want to think about putting the Cydia apps onto your new iPad3 one at a time. The iPad3 is different than the iPad2 in and of itself, even if it is running the same iOS you had on the iPad2. But, some things may not work on it. So, why I can't say that you'd have an issue, I still recommend you not use PKGBackup to put those tweaks on the iPad3. PKGBackup is best used when you are restoring to the same iOS version (or to an incremental upgrade, such as from iOS 5.0.1 to 5.1.1).

But, again, once you've purchased a tweak, it's yours.

Hope this helps.

Good to know, and great Advice Marilyn....thank you.

I've got my 3 running just like my 2 now.

This new magnet polarization means a new case is in my future, but there are worse things.
