SciFi Discussion Lobby

This is the logo for TorCon 3, the third World Science Fiction Convention for Toronto, held in 2003. Note the animal themed adaptation of the Star Wars poster design. I like the fact that they chose a squirrel as The Luke Skywalker character.

Is there a squirrel in the middle?
I see that the animal to the left is a squirrel, which would be Han Solo, I suppose.

Love that. I bet that was a lot of fun. I want to check out one of those conventions one of these days.

Thanks. Can't make it this year, but maybe next. I'd especially like to go if it ends up somewhere I've not been before.

Next year it's in London, England and the 2015 Worldcon is likely to be held in Orlando or Spokanne. Site selection is voted on 2 years in advance.

I was asking myself yesterday, if this was also a reason why you chose a squirrel as your avatar.

'Riddick 3' is coming out this fall. Looks like it will have some of the elements that made 'Pitch Black' rock.

I don't know if it belongs to the conversation here, but as there are a lot of people involved who had to do with SciFi in lifetime, I post it:

The remains of Gene Roddenberry, his wife Majel Barrett and James Doohan will be sent into space next year, along with some hair of Arthur C. Clarke and a message written by him.
Here's the article in today's Times:

Oh, now that's really cool! What an appropriate thing. I, too, wish to go to space - though I would prefer to see it while I was alive! :)

I agree. It must be fascinating watching our planet from a distance! :-)
