Spotlight problem with iPad 2 running iOS 8

I want to know who else has this and if there are any fixes for it. I already tried a hard reset.

Remember those new spotight features? I don't have them. There are 2 new things I found in the spotlight section, the spotlight suggestions and bing results, whenever I try to tap on them they get a check mark on their side, when I search for something it seems as they don't work at all and when I come back I find them uncehcked. This has been frustrating especially since this is one of the most awaited features for iOS 8, at least in my opinion.

If you have not already done so, you could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. You'll have to do a lot of re-tweaking of settings afterwards, but it might unstick whatever is stuck.

I'll see if that does anything. I'll tell ya'll if things go dandy.

Sorry but I don't like the surrounding issues with a lot of these new "improvements". So I have them turned OFF - one of the reasons I prefer iOS to Android. In iOS I have control. :)

  • Frequent Locations. Your iPad will keep track of places you have recently been, as well as how often and when you visited them, in order to learn places that are significant to you. This data is kept solely on your device and will not be sent to Apple without your consent. It will be used to provide you with personalised services, such as predictive traffic routing.
  • Location-Based iAds. Your iPad will send your location, including its travel speed and direction, to Apple in order to provide you with geographically relevant iAds.
  • Spotlight Suggestions. When you use Spotlight or Spotlight Suggestions in Safari, the location of your iPad at the time you submit a search query to Spotlight or Safari will be sent to Apple to make Spotlight Suggestions more relevant and to improve other Apple products and services. If you turn off Location Services for Spotlight Suggestions, your precise location will not be sent to Apple. To deliver relevant search suggestions, Apple may use the IP address of your Internet connection to approximate your location by matching it to a geographic region.
  • Location-Based Alerts. Your iPad will use your location in order to provide you with geographically relevant alerts, such as a reminder to call someone when you get to a specific place, or when to leave for your next appointment based on where you currently are.

Possibly. I can't duplicate the problem, but since were are using different iPad models that means little.

Heard about iOS 8.0.1 update, sounds like a rumor, and rumors doesn't say anything about any spotlight issues. Looks like a full restore is my next stop.

The update was available for a short time and was withdrawn, because there were problems with iPhones. The next update is in progress, and will be available as soon as possible.

There were no fixes for the spotlight feature in iOS 8.0.1, though.

I now know why Spotlight suggestions and bing results doesn't work on my device, it only support 15 states which is probably annoying.

WhatI don't understand is, why would it have to be compatible? Why can't it stay as a feature of iOS 8 regardless of country?
