What's new

The "Anything Goes" thread

I would pay for certain people, but I have no money, so it's best I don't go to this one.

Brilliant grades, well done!! Who gets all this money for the autographs, is it a charity exercise?

No more parse errors?! I feel like I've been punched in the kidney. It's the end of witty ( or half witty) word play in the Parse error thread. That's parses me off. All of that fun repartee is in the parst now. Parsonally I liked it the old way.
AA

So parsetures new then? :D

Unfortunately, no. I think the money goes to the shop owner.

Random comment: I hate not having a job/money. I want to move into a nicer place and adopt a dog. Neither can happen for 9-10 months. Boo.

One word...

Lottery

Kidding. ;) I know how hard that can be when you're young, but trust me, you will grow and prosper and look back on those times and think "Wow, how did I ever make it?"...and you will have made it and learned a lot of valuable lessons along the way. Just think, you could have it all handed to you like some kids have (cough...Hilton) and then end up in rehab every few months...or worse...MUCH worse. So hang in there, think positive and and it will all work out.

You're paying it forward and building a lot of good karma taking care of those dogs you know! Like they say, the teacher will appear when the student is ready. Good times are ahead. :)

Gees, lucky shop owner, although he may have to pay for the service too. Whenever we have them here it's normally a charity involved, but then we don't have all the 'stars' you guys do

So agree with what Rich has said. It's always tough in the beginning and for good reason I think. You appreciate more what you have to work for and that sense of achievement is good for the soul.

Yes, I too agree. We always say that we were happy and appreciative of life when we first married. We had 2 basement rooms to live in, and I was a self employed odd job man. We would find bits to buy in second hand shops and jumble stalls at a church. It was a tough, but happy time. We have been married for over 33 years and look back on those times with fondness.

Hey! Me too! We care, that's why! We have all worked hard but are older now. It will get better. Money wise not for us but love and marriage - 21 years and still together and our kids are great. By the way, Lyndsey, I had totally loopy kids today. Now I have a headache and sore throat from shouting so happy teaching soon! You will be complaining like the rest of us teachers soon.
Love the English flag Rich B.

I'm mad. I bought 4 book apps from iceberg reader, Scrollmotion and now due to the ios5 update they are not updating my books so now they are obsolete! Outrageous! Where do we stand when that happens? Is it a case of ca la vie! anyone? Suggestions? Do I complain to Apple? These are books that I'm now unable to read. No way of transferring to laptop or emailing! Is this the future. This is what could put me off of ebooks. Paper books don't disappear or become obsolete. Xxxxxxxx

I still don't have a student teaching placement for this semester. Semester started first week of September... it's the second week of November. At this point I doubt any schools are going to want a student teacher this late. I have night class tonight with the program director - the one who promised me (and the 4 others without placements) 3 weeks ago that he'd get right on it and find me a placement right away. I'm sure tonight he'll come up with another excuse why I'm not placed. I'm sick of it. But I AM anxious to teach... anxious to TRY it. My classmates have been teaching for weeks, some of them a month, and I'm not even observing yet.

I'm sorry about your books that disappeared. I only use Kindle and iBooks. :/

Yeah. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here. Hope you don't miss that photo opportunity too much.
