Yes, that's true and thank you for the reminder.
Here's another photo that just worked too which will set the Olympics going nicely.
It's of Stanway House fountain(*) (Gloucestershire, UK) at full height which is a shocking, bone-shaking thing to be near, a storm was coming in fast, and as I clicked, the swan appeared. Magical!

(*) The fountain is purely gravity-fed, the tallest in the world. More here:

Amazing. A very lucky composition

Very nice, stranding. I love it!

Thanks Gabe, Richard & mollysmum! Lucky indeed. You can imagine what I felt when I saw it. Felt like going to kiss that swan:-)

The thing I was thinking about at the time, apart from the rain that was coming up fast, was how sensible we had been to stand where we were, not with the sodden unfortunates on the left...:-):-)

This fountain works for about half an hour twice a day, so the unsuspecting spectators gather, certainly not thinking about the wind direction!

The opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics coming up any minute now was a good place to give it a airing.

If you watch it, wherever you watch it in the world, enjoy! Good luck to everyone.

I just snagged this for wallpaper. Hope that's OK.

I have received a link to a tribute to the late astronaut Sally Ride. http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/plugged-in/2012/07/23/tribute-to-sally-ride-135-shuttle-launches-at-once/?WT_mc_id=SA_CAT_SPC_20120726

It is part of a blog on the Scientific American website. I therefore hope the link is OK for posting.

I like the use of the video tiles. It's odd however that the editor chose to make the audio from the "Challenger" launch disaster the dominant soundtrack.
Ride was on Challenger's inaugural flight but of course not that one. I think it takes away from her accomplishments.

Canadians were glued to the coverage of that mission. The remote manipulator arm Ride helped to design, was used by her, to deploy a Canadian and an Indian satellite.

With apologies for the lurch off this entertaining chat. (Don't even know what I am. Half past three, obviously :-))

So so sad to hear of the death of Maeve Binchy. A great writer. Her humor & compassion shine through her words.
