The "Anything Goes" thread

Thanks for the info, iJamesH. The article reminds me of a scandal about rendered meat products here in Europe.

You've reminded me of a scandal we had years ago....a new restaurant had opened, The Spaghetti Factory. It was so very popular and reservations were very hard to get.

Now for the scandal.....their Spaghetti and meatballs were the most favored dish until it was discovered that the meatballs were from a can....not too bad I hear you say, but here's the catch, they were from a can of dog food.

So glad I never eat spaghetti so never dined there. ;)

Yugh. I love spaghetti.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Jamie Oliver put me off of those fast food places thinks ago.
I don't trust what goes in them.

Well, what they serve is called junk food. We don't go into those places as a rule. However, I have eaten from time to time in Burger King, or Wimpey, or at a pinch McD's.

Kangaroo meat McRibs, spaghetti from dog food . . . either some of you (and you know who you are :p) either make this stuff up, find it on the web or make it up from something you find on the web.

Facts: Bob does not care if the McRib is made from cat food and assembled in a large chemical factory. Do not screw with the McRib. It is better than grandmas McRib and it is just about the bestest sammy created by man.

And what's wrong with dog food? It is properly seasoned fat, grease, various chemical adjuncts, ground bones, innards from bovine and swine alike; vegetables from third worlds countries all mixed into a delightful slurry and canned. The Dollar Store brands beat the national brands hands down.

They often add meat from dead cats and horses, so what's not to love? Just add some bottled barbecue sauce and boil some pasta. It is all good.

This just graduated to the top of my list of reasons to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables :)

I didn't realise that. I was aware of it being illegal to jam broadcasts. I guess cell phones come within the umbrella of broadcasting devices.

I have seen stories about hands free being as dangerous as hand held. Then there are those who say listening to a radio changing channels etc can dangerous. It's a difficult arena to enter and deal with.

Of course phone providers have voice mail etc. Folk seem to be too impatient to put these services to good use!

Illegal, yes. According to Part 97, jamming signals is illegal. It causes more problems than it solves. Jammers for sale on the web are illegal because they are not FCC Approved and if it is illegal to jam cell signals, jammers will never be approved so jammers are therefore, illegal.

I do know amateur radio operators can (apparently) be prevented from operating radios while they drive. Several states allow it by law and other states are trying to pass exemptions for Amateur Radio Operators. I have read very few stories about accidents cause by operators. My theory is those that are easily distracted are doomed to die anyway. Be it from tweeting on the go, changing the radio or trying to find that fry they dropped.

So what about taxi cab drivers and truckers? Should these bans be across the board? And fast food drive in take out windows? Close them? After all, eating while driving is a distraction.

What about making it illegal to listen to music? Certainly, that has caused a problem here and there. Kids? Do not get me started on kids. They can distract the dead in the cemetery. We all know that.

Finally, how do we really know how many accidents are caused by cell phone use. We read the stories, sure, but do we really know FOR SURE? I am not sure we do.

Perhaps, but how do you know the packer washed his or her hands after visiting the WC? Or what about sneezing. God only knows how many people sneezed on your eggplants during packing. Farmer's Markets are good, but you burn gas that is killing Mother Earth. Darn you, you Earth murderer.

Smiley

You just cannot win. I say eat more processed food to build up your resistance. Eventually, you will be immune.
