What's new

The "Anything Goes" thread

Last night, BBC2 showed a fascinating Docufilm, "The Challenger", which I'm sure a number of you will find fascinating. - the title of the Open University's article about the programme is "Feynman: His life and the Challenger conspiracy".

I'm having to download the programme from iPlayer as my wife didn't want to watch.

I found this in youTube, I hope. Is Feynman played by William Hurt? Then I could watch it via NetTV. Another actor should be Bruce Greenwood. The docu lasts about 90 minutes.

Darn it. If I'd realized the new Hobbit movie was only the first half, I would have waited for the second to come out. Guess I should have payed more attention to the reviews.

Err! Mikel, it's in three parts! Not two. Sorry to be the one to tell you.

To the Hobbit? I don't remember there being enough story for a third part. On the other hand I did not remember a lot of the things that happened in the first.

I mean, they squeezed the actual trilogy into three movies, and each of those books was larger than the Hobbit.

Tell me about it! It smacks of trying to squeeze as much money out of the story as possible. I thought the exact same thing. I remember reading it when I was knee high to a grasshopper (as my Ouma used to say) when I read it myself. I never quite got around to reading the trilogy but totally enjoyed The Trilogy films.

OK, a change of subject here :)

I dug out some photos I took at the Biggin Hill Air Show in 2009, the 25th anniversary of Virgin Atlantic. I took my great niece, Tatiana to the show and she was enthralled by the wing walkers - wanted to have a go! The best I could offer was a ride in the Ted Arrows' flight simulator :D

Thanks OB. It was a fabulous day, and we are glad we went. The air shows have finished now which is sad. Spitfires are being restored and aver hauled by a private outfit at Biggin Hill.

It certainly isn't up to today's standards, but she might get a chuckle out of "Flying Down to Rio". Fred Astaire, Ginger Rodgers and company - and there is a whole wing walking dance routine.
