The "Anything Goes" thread

Welcome back on board Julie.

So all ship shape & Bristol fashion then.

I think life is going on as normal, despite atrocious weather conditions around the planet.

welcome back on board! I am wiped out, no sleep and had to take my Mom in for eye surgery this morning. I figured in stead of trying to sleep I would come on here LOL

Thanks richard, yes life seems to just keep going.
Have to say weather perfect here .
Blue skies warm water and sunshine no wind.
It's perfect
These guests are cooking for them selves.
Hooray for me.
Although a little frustrating.
Itching to do some cooking.

Yes, welcome back Julie! I'm not a big cooking person, my hubby does most of it but I do it when I get bored of English meals and want Italian or Indian food for a change.

Well, it was alright until I had a class who were absolutely awful to each other. The lower the ability, the more nasty they get. Oh, well, that's normal for me. Bottom sets have special needs which I can provide. Most of the time! There are some lovely kids in there too, I feel sorry for them. Good week otherwise. We had a forensic lesson which is new for us. I convinced our teacher that it would be really cool for the kids and most enjoyed the "dead" body with a chisel in the neck and fake blood everywhere etc.... Some of course said it was boring. Can't please everyone, I suppose. Heather started her college this week and is loving it. She was so worried too.

Any body have a way to soften dried butter beans
Soaked for 24 hours
Boiled for 2 hours,
Well simmered
No salt
And still hard as bullets
Any secrets or ideas please!
A frustrated cook.

Ive asked everyone Julie but I'm afraid no answers for your beans.
Our apples are ripening so crumbles, pies, chutneys and apple sauce is under way. Apple and blackberry crumble is absolutely lovely.

Everyone I have asked says to just soak them for awhile, if still hard after that, maybe they are no good?

That could be the case! Hello David, how are you? The world of new school term is a busy one.

Lesson planning, learning new students names, trying to remember which class room I'm in next. I have two IT rooms, the library, and all the labs(5). I am busier than last year as the teachers were reduced but then the student numbers went up therefore bigger class sizes. They can't increase the teachers until next financial year so that's that. I like reading when not at school and catching up on all the tv programs on BBC, ITV and channel 4 apps.

Nice avatar Hayles.

Re the beans, we soak ours overnight to soften them before cooking in a pressure cooker. I am no expert but agree with the suggestion that if a soaking fails to soften them, the beans are off.
