I enjoyed your answers to AA's ironstone mug challenge, Scifan.

Another firm that made ironstone wares was Doulton in Lambeth. They made hot water bottles, drainpipes etc. the firm relocated to Staffordshire in the 20th Century. When the Lambeth works closed, the office records - ledgers and employee records- were thrown into skips. Shock horror nowadays, as these records should be donated to the local record office for conservation and public access.

The clue that enabled me to solve the challenge was the Admiral's mention of the durability of the object in his second clue. That got me thinking of ironware and ironstone.

The egg cup challenge had me chuckling a lot , so many egg word plays ....

And now I feel like a couple of fried eggs on toast for tea , yum!

Admiral, is this the sign that applies to you, now?

The Amplivision app is free to day. I just got it, and I think it's going to be a nice tool for the What Is It? thread; making it easier to get those close in shots without having to edit and crop.

I've been playing with it.

Rather than trying to zoom in and take the picture (hard to get good focus), zoom all the way out and fill the frame with the object (or part of object).

Tap the lock.

Now you can zoom in and out and scroll around to your hearts content. Each time you get a view you want, tap the share icon and share the View to the Photo library.

All this does is save you from doing a lot of cropping in the Photos app, but a step saved is a step earned. ;-)

Thx TP. I've also downloaded it. It looks good.
Ets hope those complaints about out of focus close ups cease! ;)

That's a lovely clock Sci............a very nice heirloom now. ;)

Thanks, I certainly have no plans to ever sell it. It helps me remember her whenever I see it.

I really love items like this.....they tell a story all their own.

It was very nice they gave her something like that when she retired......your mother certainly deserved it after 35 years of service.
