The Official Ipad 3 Accessories Thread

~ Home Basic case - $15 from iHome (user pruchased from tjmaxx. Unable to find link to the product)

Here's the item OP. It's still close to $50 @ Amazon but it's only $14.99 @ TJMaxx.

No problem. Also I know it is too late for you but there is a coupon fbfan2012 that gives you like $5 off and if you are in the us you get free shipping.

Thanks! I'm trying to get the code applied after the fact. Unlikely they'll give us free shipping. Never happens for us Canucks. ;)

Thanks zman! Item will be updated as well as other things :)

As the lists builds up everyday, I want to encourage users to keep on sharing. Although we can't get Every Single accessory on here; I'll do my best to keep on adding new items that I found and what is reported on here.

I want to also note, if a cloned-no-name accessory found on eBay does in fact work, I will happily add it. However, I hesitate to add eBay cloned accessories for everyone's own safety. Although the item might work for you, it is really hard to gauge the quality consistency for what other buyers will receive.

Plus sometimes it can be a hassle to do a return or an exchange. Regardless of how good the sellers sell rate and feedback is. The item will be marked as buyer beware; just to let others who don't view this thread often know that - it is a cloned-no-name accessory from eBay.

- rearranged some things and added new items

Here's the Belkin Snap Shield Secure (for iPad 2) on new Ipad with Apple Smart Cover. Great match, perfect fit and no signs of stress or anything like that. This is the *Secure* model with a metal strip on the back for the Smart Cover.

Go on the Best Buy website and read the reviews for this cover - almost all say it cracks around the edges or corners on the ipad2, imagine the stress on it while on the 3. I thought about this until I read the reviews. I waiting for speck to tweak the featherlite or the smart shield.

That is not the Secure model.

Very good reviews here......and no mention of cracking.

Dang.. that's what I got... We'll see how long it lasts. Then again, I plan on never taking off the shell anyways.

If it does crack, I will get the navy blue secure shell from Belkin that's made for the 3. I just didn't feel like waiting so I bought the shell for the 2...

I did some digging around on this issue. I found out there are 2 generations of the snap shield.

First Gen: it has 4 raised corners, for each corner, to clip onto the ipad. The microphone cutout is a small circular'ish shape.

Second Gen: this is the improved version. If you hold your ipad in portrait mode with the home button at the bottom: there are 2 corner clips on the left hand side of the ipad. On the right hand side, along the entire edge, is a long raised edge to clip on. Not the tradition 4 corner clip as the first Gen. Also the camera cutout is a trapazoid shape and not just a small circular'ish cutout.

Also, viewing some old uploaded videos on YouTube of the case, the distinctions are very clear. The first Gen cutout for the volume rocker is an entire cutout. Whereas the second Gen cutout is an actual rectangular cutout with the ongoing edge to clip on. Not just an entire cutout section for the volume rocker.

So based on all the negative reviews, I can only presume those people obtained the first Gen. Which was highly prone to the 4 corners cracking.

Hope this helps.

That is what I consider a list. Great reference. Sometimes you don't knw where to start shopping for an item/ accessories ,there are soon many. List helps
