iPad with wireless manages time settings differently to 3G ones. And there is no "auto" setting. Took me ages to figure it out. Sigh. Check out this explanation. There's an explanation on the macobserver.com website but this forum won't let me paste a direct URL. Go to the website and do a search for "what time is it your ipad may not be sure".

There is a free app that is supposed to address the WiFi iPad's time drift problem:
